February will be Academy Month at NSCHS!

Brought to NS with the help of the Governance Board’s University/College and Career Committee-
Spartans will learn about one Academy each week beginning next week - February 6th with the Math /Science Academy.
Everyone will see the “Find yourself Here” video that showcases all 4 academies. Durning 5th period 4 days each week, students will watch a short presentation by academy students. they’ll hit hight points –  explain course electives, diploma options, activities  and possible careers. EACH WEEK WILL FEATURE A SPECIAL SIGNATURE EVENT. CLICK FOR MORE INFO

FBLA Advances to State Leadership Conference

North Springs FBLA attended Region Leadership Conference on Tuesday, January 21. Members had the opportunity to compete in leadership, business, and computer science related events. With winners in nearly every registered event, North Springs FBLA is proudly advancing to the State Leadership Conference level of competition. North Springs had 11 Region winners:

  • 5th  in Business Plan – Gabriel Periera, Geoffrey Teneilabe, and Raymond Ngwaugwau,
  • 4th in Business Ethics – Ross McLane, Jay Edlin, and Matt Kontyko
  • 3rd in Business Presentation – Shura Lomanova, Thomas Chilomo, and Sharan Panchal
  • 5th in Impromptu Speaking – Tyrone McClendon
  • 5th in Job Interview and 4th in Future Business Leader – Kyle Austin

 16 Region winners will be advancing to state and the winners are:

  • 1st in Sports and Entertainment Management – Lucas Capps and JD Grider
  • 2nd in Future Business Leader, Super Team of Sports and Entertainment Management – Justin Fleischmann
  • 2nd place in Electronic Career Portfolio – Lynzy Mendenhall
  • 3rd in Website Design – Marquise Fleming, Justin Conerly, and Dacorvyn Young
  • 5th in Management Decision Making – Michael Couch, JR Stein, and Leithland Kilburn
  • 8th place in Economics – Jay Edlin
  • 9th in Hospitality Management – Teriyana Cohens and Isaac Chambers
  • 9th in Introduction to Information Technology – Isaac Chambers
  • 11th place in Accounting 1 – Jordan Meagher

Spartans Gear Up for New School Year!

Today’s Gear Up Day for seniors and juniors was a great success. Students got schedules, lockers, and textbooks; parents joined PTSA and visited Booster and information tables lining the front hall. Gear Up Day continues for sophomores and freshmen tomorrow, Friday, August 9th. Thanks PTSA, faculty,staff and volunteers for this well organized back to school event. See you Monday!

7 Spartans make GA Lacrosse All Star Team!

One of our Georgia Lacrosse All Stars honored at senior night. Seven Spartans made the 2013 All Star Team!
Congratulations to these Spartan Lacrosse players named to the 2013 GA All Star Team: Eric Fancher, Matt Johnson, Rebecca Galanti, Emma Neish, Ashlyn Powell, Sarah Smith, Ariel Siegel and Sarah Smith!

Congrats also to varsity coaches Paul Brown and Jaci Steinhart.

Spartans participate in College Week at Ison Springs

Several NS college-bound Spartans visited Ison Springs for their College and Career week activites inspiring these future Spartans to plan on college. From this photo it’s evident the Dawgs and Yellow Jackets have the edge!

On Friday, April 26, seniors Deja Shands, Gabrielle Jackson, Beatrice Baker and Felicia Lewis from NS’ College and Career Center participated in College and Career Week activities at Ison Springs Elementary School. The event planned by the Ison Springs counseling department to inspire their young students was a success!




College & Career Center hosts senior cookout!

College-bound Spartans enjoy today’s cookout hosted by the College and Career center volunteers – hotdogs, hamburgers, music, and raffle tickets to win a beach bucket for summer fun were on the menu. Congrats Spartans!  Check the web for more photos and senior updates soon.

Spartan Athletes Sign and Celebrate

Julia Abelsky signs to fence at Northwestern University! She was the first of seven senior athletes honored at Tuesday’s College Signing Party. The other athletes include Sylvonna Rogers playing basketball at L.B. Wallace Community College, Eric Fancher, playing lacrosse at Young Harris College, Xavier Landers playing baseball at Paine College and track stars Diaja Oliver, Dejane Oliver and Cheyenne Wells, who’ll be competing at State in May!

Crashed Car Event Makes An Impact

In a dramatic simulation Sandy Springs fire fighters remove door from crashed car to free “teacher victims” trapped inside. NSCHS juniors and seniors attended today’s event sponsored by SGA and Liberty Mutual to make an impact and encourage students, especially before prom, to be safe, responsible drivers!
